The old Mart Car Park, located in the heart of Fermoy town, has seen a ‘sale agreed’ sign erected this week.

It is understood, following enquiries, that the sale has been agreed with a private individual. While speculation mounts as to the identity of the purchaser, this could not be confirmed at the time of going to press.

Previously, the council were called on to purchase the site, following the news of Tesco purchasing the adjacent lot in a bid to future-proof parking in the town of Fermoy. 

When contacted regarding the matter, a Cork County Council spokesperson said: “Cork County Council cannot comment on the sale or purchase of private land”.
