Twenty young people on the Glanmire Summer Youth Scheme have received €2,000 worth of sponsorship from Ryan’s SuperValu Glanmire for doing work to enhance the local area in Glanmire and Riverstock.
Run by the Glanmire Area Community Association, the scheme involved 20 youths, who come from the local community, spending a week cleaning, painting and litter picking in their area.
Each participant received €100 from Ryan’s SuperValu as a thank you for their dedication to their community.
Liam Ryan, owner of SuperValu Glanmire, said that their donation is part of the stores commitment to giving back to the town by regularly supporting local projects and described these youths as an ‘example’ to the community.
“The donation was a way of saying that you effort is appreciated,” Liam said. “We live and work in a beautiful area, but it’s hard work keeping it that way. We are thrilled to have the scheme in place and to provide support for those working and associated with the project.”
