The HSE Newcastle West 5k race took place on Friday last, 19 April with 121 runners taking part. Paul Aherne was the only representative from the club in this one and had another great run, finishing 34th in 22:36. Other race results are not yet available and will be included in next week’s notes.

The Great Limerick Run is just around the corner. Best of luck to all Kilfinane AC runners who have been training hard in recent months and indeed to all taking part, in what is sure to be a great event on Sunday, 5 May.

The Ballyhoura Marathon starts from Kilfinane at 8.30am with a challenging marked 26.2 mile route traversing forest track, open mountain and riverbanks through the scenic landscape. Return to Kilfinane Education Centre for showers and dinner. Brand new route this year. Alternatively, there is the half marathon route which begins at 10.30am. www.visitballyhoura.com for details.
