Four drivers were issued with on-the-spot fines last Thursday when they were caught by gardaí filming and taking photos on their phones of a jackknifed truck on the M8 near Watergrasshill.

An Garda Síochána issued the fines to drivers for holding their phones while driving and for driving without due care and attention.

The gardaí then posted about the event on their southern region Facebook page asking road users to please act responsibly when passing by the scene of an accident.

The emergency services need room to work in dangerous environments at the scene of any crash and also it is unfair to the persons involved in the incident and their families.
