As anyone who's ever worn glasses will tell you, choosing the right eyewear is about much more than the right prescription lens. Many wearers are image conscious and want stylish frames that will complement their features and clothing, helping them to achieve a signature look.

A new company based in Fermoy is now supplying a brand new and exciting range of frames. Featuring the latest eyewear trends, Rodari Eyewear offer style and value, whether wearers want to enhance their look or embrace their individuality. Attention to detail is everything at Rodari, where frames have the exclusive look of a designer label without the designer price tag.

"We pride ourselves on our distinctive frames that will make sure people notice the wearer's glasses for all the right reasons", Deirdre Hussain says. She set up the business with her husband Taj earlier this year. Already the range which offers eyewear for young children, teenagers and adults, is proving extremely popular with stockists keen to offer the fresh, chic range to their customers. The distinctive company name is made up of the first two letters of each of the couple's three children's names, Roisin, Daithi and Riain.

TRENDY & AFFORDABLE

The Blinx range for teenagers offer effortlessly cool frames, ideal for fashion focused teens, while their EYESPY range offer young kids frames they'll love to wear - colourful, bright and fun and, most importantly, hard wearing. Rodari Eyewear pride themselves on their distinctive trendy frames for adults too. Made with quality materials, from metal and handmade acetate to wood, the Rodari range has been created in line with up to the minute trends in eyewear.

At the same time the company is maintaining prices in the mid-price bracket which allows stockists to offer their range at competitive prices.

Taj Hussain was involved in eyewear previously. He and Deirdre worked on plans to create their own range for two years before launching in February. The couple travelled to China to meet with suppliers. As well as selecting the perfect colours, designs and materials for their eyewear, they wanted to gain in-depth knowledge about the manufacturing process. They also wanted to build up a good professional relationship with their suppliers in order to have as much control as possible in the areas of quality, delivery and pricing.

Opticians have the advantage of being able to place their orders via a confidential and secure online system they've devised. The company has built up a comprehensive network of stockists across the country as opticians clamour for  trendy new designs. Local stockists include Fermoy Opticians, Mellerick's Opticians also in Fermoy, Thornhill's in Mitchelstown and O'Connor Poole in Blackpool, Cork.

LOOKING FORWARD

Deirdre currently works with a staff of four, sales manager Mary Sugrue, financial manager Aileen Sweeney and part-time administration assistants Kiera and Aoife Llewellyn. There's plans to add a full-time administrator next month.

Deirdre and Taj are very pleased with the receptive response there's been to their new eyewear range. Demand has far exceeded their expectations, Deirdre reports, and feedback has been extremely positive. It's a strong start for the Fermoy-based eyewear business and one they plan to build on.
