In advance of the Basketball Hall of Fame Belfast Classic, which will welcome leading American university basketball teams to Northern Ireland to go head-to-head for the first time in Europe on 1st and 2nd December, the Sport Changes Life Foundation has announced a series of exciting basketball camps for young people across the island of Ireland starting Tuesday, 31st October.

Designed to encourage young people to join the sport locally and the development of skills for players of all levels, these unique camps, hosted by Sport Changes Life’s Victory Scholars, will offer hands-on coaching sessions in local communities dotted from Derry to Cork, Galway to Kildare, and everywhere in between.

Included in this road show will be a free-of-charge Cork-based camp with Brunell and Neptunes basketball clubs at Cork Institute of Technology’s gym from 10am – 2pm on Friday, 28th October. Led by Victory Scholars Madelyn Ganser and Ian Thom from Cork Institute of Technology, the camp will address the basics of the sport as well as fine-tuning each player’s game and also addressing leadership and teamwork through inspiring talks.

The opportunity to train with Sport Change’s Life’s Victory Scholars will not only help young players to hone their skills, but will also open their minds to the vast opportunities available for young people through sport.  Consisting of American postgraduate students who have excelled in their academics and sport during their undergraduate studies, the Victory Scholars have been selected to study at local universities whilst playing basketball for and coaching local teams.

The Basketball Hall of Fame Belfast Classic Halloween basketball camps have been organised to promote interest in the sport of basketball across the Island of Ireland in the run up to the Basketball Hall of Fame Belfast Classic, 1st and 2nd December 2017.
