A car collision at Leary’s Cross outside Castlelyons has once again highlighted the perilous road junction that has, for many years, been a source of worry for motorists in the area.

The four-way junction on the R628 linking Rathcormac to Tallow has been the source of many accidents, and Fermoy Fire Brigade First Station Officer, Eric Dahill expressed his belief that the accident on Wednesday morning was “going to be one of many more to come.”

“You can’t see traffic coming. There, and Kenny’s Cross, are absolutely lethal. They need to cut down the ditches, or change the road layout. They need to do something or someone will be killed.”
