A retaining wall in Araglin collapsed on Wednesday into a nearby river, taking with it a large portion of the road.
It is understood that the wall located in the Coolmohan area on the way to Araglin School, collapsed at around midday due to the powerful waters of the overflowing river beside it.
Speaking with The Avondhu, Moss Fitzgerald who was working on site that day after receiving a call regarding the collapsed wall at about 12.30pm, noted that the road had to close due to the severity of the collapse.
