The countdown is on for the Better Life Bay to Bay cycle next year, as online registration is open from 6pm today (Thursday) on their website www.betterlifecycle.ie, which has just gone live.

The inaugural event, which saw more than 100 cyclists raising €90,000 through a Malin to Mizen Head cycle for St Joseph's Foundation and this year, cyclists will be given the opportunity to cycle from Dublin to Galway Bay.

The journey is less daunting than last years, at almost 230km and it will take place in May of next year.

Following on from the overwhelming success of last year's event, there is already a lot of interest, so those interested are urged to register early and start getting ready for the cycle.

As the date for the cycle draws closer, there will be a number of fundraisers and the committee are looking forward to the charity auction on Friday, December 19 in Jackie O'Briens tavern in Mitchelstown.

If anyone wishes to organise a fundraiser event to support the cycle, they can contact 087-9411902 and for more information on the cycle, follow @bettercycle on Twitter and visit www.betterlifecycle.ie to register or to find out more.
