Locals living along the R666 in the Rathealy area of Fermoy say that they are ‘totally fed up’ after dealing with repeated water mains pipe bursts for at least 15 years.

Affecting over 20 residences as well as farms and businesses along the R666 stretching from Rathealy Road to Isleclash and Mountrivers, calls are now being made for action to be taken and for the water main to be fully replaced once and for all.

Just last week, in the space of four days, residences were again left without water day and night for up to 43 hours over that period.

“Water is essential for all our daily needs, drinking, washing, toilets etc and is also needed for our home heating systems,” said Rathealy local, Tommy Lawton.
