A Rathcormac man who says he has attended Mass on most days for a lot of his life, is protesting the closure of his local church.

When Covid-19 struck, the Catholic hierarchy followed the guidance of professionals from the Department of Health and the HSE, and churches across the county closed.

For Sean Barry, and for a proportion of Ireland’s Catholics, this move has proved to be both unpopular and, in their eyes, unnecessary.

He has now taken the decision to sit outside the church in Rathcormac every day for one hour between 2pm and 3pm in a form of protest at the decision of the Catholic authorities, to close these churches.
