Random act of vandalism devastating blow to cafe

A random act of vandalism dealt yet another blow to the hospitality industry on Friday.

Café Ed on Patrick Street in Fermoy suffered a devastating blow ahead of reopening last week, due to wanton vandalism on its street furniture.

Having been granted permission from Cork County Council for outdoor dining this summer, wooden railings were set up on a parking space outside the premises on Thursday last in preparation for outdoor dining.

On Friday, however, staff arrived at the local business only to discover that the railings had suffered significant damage, having been deliberately knocked down and smashed.

Speaking with The Avondhu, Kay Archdeacon of Café Ed, described the incident as a ‘devastating blow for Café Ed’.
