The issue of ramps near Adair Primary School in Fermoy for traffic calming is one for Fermoy Town Council and not the county council, Cllr Frank O'Flynn was told at the monthly meeting of the Fermoy Electoral Area committee on Tuesday.

He had tabled a motion calling on the council to put in place low level table platform ramps in the interests of safety there. Parents, the poard of management and staff have been campaiging for some time now to have ramps installed.

They were told recently by the traffic management sub-committee of the town council that traffic levels would be monitored until January and then reviewed, but it appeared that officials are not in favour of installing ramps.

Local engineer Brendan O'Gorman told Cllr O'Flynn on Tuesday that it wasn't Cork County Council's area of responsibility but rather a decision for the town council.

Parents picketed the town hall on Tuesday night as members of the town council arrived for their monthly meeting.
