It is our pleasure to congratulate Irish Independent reporter Ralph Riegel, on being chosen as one of just 12 Irish journalists to cover the Pope's visit to Ireland.
Ralph, who lives in Gortore, Fermoy started his reporting career with The Avondhu.
Indeed it was while with The Avondhu that he met the love of his life – Mary (O'Donoghue) who worked in the paper's production department.
Ralph says that for him, covering the Pope's visit will be 'an incredible honour' and one that he will cherish for the rest of his life.
