AIB has released research results into the range of activities we’re putting off to another day. Fitness and healthy eating top the list with 41% of those surveyed mentioning not getting around to exercise, 37% not getting around to healthy eating and 26% not getting around to responding to a text message.

Among the list of things put off to another day was financial planning with 59% of those surveyed claiming they have never received financial planning services in the past. A host of reasons were cited including ‘time pressure’, ‘seems too complex’ and ‘something for the older generation’.

When prompted about the backup plan for preparing for the future, 41% of those surveyed mentioned winning the Lotto, 5% spotting a valuable antique, 9% raising a child prodigy and 2% on inheritance as a back up to making a personal financial plan.

Research has revealed that we are actually very well intentioned with 1 in 5 considering developing a personal financial plan at some stage.
