Soft underfoot conditions didn't deter the hardy rugby enthusiasts who put in a solid shift at last Thursday's day-long rugby camp in Colaiste an Chraoibhin, Fermoy.
The boys and girls were under the watchful eye of Munster development coaches, John O'Neill and Finny O'Regan - both men were pleased with the aptitude and skill level of the Fermoy players.
According to John, working with schools is a vital part in expanding the appeal of rugby as well as helping to unearth new talent. Prominent in a variety of sports, Colaiste have plans to become a major force in schools rugby and access to high level coaching is part and parcel of that process. They are fortunate that teachers, Ronan Condon and Mark Lyndon are prepared to commit so much time and effort into preparing teams for matches.

The school also has a close working relationship with Fermoy Rugby Club - a progressive and ambitious club that has access to excellent facilities. There were plenty of tired bodies after last Thursday's intensive session. However, no one complained as hard graft is a necessary requirement in this most physically and mentally demanding of sports.
