On Wednesday, January 23, Mitchelstown Presentation Secondary School TY Green Schools’ team held a coin race.

Each student brought in a handful of coins then each class collected all their coins together. Classes were called out to the hall and asked to design an energy related image with their coins. They were given three minutes to complete the image. The more coins the better the image. 5B won the prize for the most coins collected and designed a funky bicycle. 2A won the prize for best design with a 3D light switch. Well done girls.

The money collected during our coin race will be used to buy radiator reflector foil to make our school warmer and save energy. The coin race is one of many tasks we have done for the competition we are working towards (i.e. Young Environmentalist awards). The coin race was a fun and enjoyable event. A big thank you to all involved!
