The auction of a 44-acre residential holding in Clondulane, Curragh Lower, Fermoy on Thursday last attracted plenty of interest. While the room in the Grand Hotel was packed for the executor sale, when it came to bidding three contenders quickly emerged.

The property came with a roadside four-bedroom bungalow and a range of out offices with lean-tos. The land is set out in six fields, currently in grass and with good road frontage.

As bidding rose, one of the three dropped out leaving the two to continue until the property was finally knocked down on a bid of €460,000. It was bought in trust by a local solicitor. The new owner is believed to have previously rented the property.

“It’s a good location and it was a fair price,” the Blarney-based auctioneer commented. The bungalow had lain idle for some time and needs to be completely upgraded.

A further 55-acre parcel of land that’s also part of the estate will be sold at a later stage.

The auctioneer told The Avondhu that he has a number of farms for sale at present and he also has a cash buyer eager to purchase between 15 and 30 acres within five miles of Fermoy.
