Planning permission has been granted for a three-warehouse development at Garrane in Mitchelstown, after over 40 objections had been made by individuals and groups in the area against the development.
The warehouse complex, which will occupy an area of over 27,000 square metres, is planned for the field on the east side of the Limerick Road and north of the town, approximately across the road from the Aldi Distribution Centre.
The site is 9.2 hectares and the purpose of the warehouse is not defined by the applicant, a company called ‘Nocsy 4 Limited’. A report included with the planning documents said the ‘end user is currently unknown’, however, based on the industry at the nearby Greenogue Industrial Estate it is likely to be a ‘large scale high volume commercial operator’, and not a retail enterprise.
