Castletownroche athlete Pat O'Connor, is part of the Relentless Rowers rowing team who are due to take on a mammoth journey across the Atlantic Ocean on December 12 to raise funds for the Children's Unit in Cork University Hospital.
Pat jumped at the chance to row the Atlantic despite having no prior rowing experience. Pat recently completed the mammoth challenge of of cycling (590km) from Malin Head to Mizen Head in under 24 hours for Pieta House.
The team of four Irish rowers who will compete in the Talisker Whiskey Atlantic Challenge, flew out to La Gomera in the Canary Islands on November 29 where they were be reunited with their race boat, Saoirse.
The Relentless Team will begin their race journey from Sebastien La Gomera, one of the Canary Islands, and will race across 5000km of open ocean with the hopes of reaching their final destination, the Carribean island of Antigua.
