Two secondary schools in Mitchelstown have, between them, been awarding funding in excess on €9 miilion that will go towards major campus expansions.

Presentation Secondary School received confirmation of over €5 million which, according to Principal Lorraine O’Keeffe, will provide no less than ten extra rooms to the school plus a number of other units.

“It’s wonderful news for our whole school community and we hope that this is just the start of the transformation process for Presentation Secondary Mitchelstown,” she said.

An amount of €4 million has been allocated for a major expansion of the campus at Coláiste Fionnchua.

School principal Edward Cronin described the good news as ‘a reflection of the hard work and application of all the staff over the last number of years’.

“We have seen enrolments grow to just over 100 first years for the term 2022-2023,” he said.
