Some 83% of contractors will not take holidays during the builders holiday period, according to a recent survey which polled over 1,500 self-employed tradesmen and builders.

The results of a survey on the observance of the traditional annual builder's holidays in 2018 showed that the majority of tradesmen cited being 'too busy' as the main reason for declining to take the allocated time off.

With builders holidays traditionally running from 23rd July to 3rd August this year, only 17% of self-employed tradesmen and builders will observe holidays.

These sentiments correspond to the growth figures reported in the first half of 2018 by OnlineTradesmen.ie, who undertook the survey, with a 26% Year-On-Year increase in the number of home improvement jobs posted by property owners to the online marketplace.
