Four nuns from the Servant Sisters of the Home of the Mother will arrive in Mitchelstown in September to work in the community, supporting teachers in schools and to work principally with young people.

The nuns will be living in Kingston Hall, the former home of Dr Tom O’Callaghan, New Square.

The Home of the Mother, an International Public Association of Faithful of the Catholic Church, was founded by a Spanish priest Fr Rafael Alonso Reymundo, in the 1980s, receiving its ‘Definitive Decree of Approval’ in 2016.

Canon Michael Fitzgerald, who invited the nuns to Mitchelstown, said he was thrilled with the news.
