Nissan has announced that it will absorb the 1% budget increase in VRT rates on all new diesel cars and that it has also introduced a price freeze in a move to reward customers ordering new 191 cars before the end of the year.
The dual initiative is set to deliver significant savings for new car buyers and comes at a time when most other car manufacturers are increasing pricing to take account of the new VRT rate and the increased cost of complying with tougher new EU emissions standards.
“The customer is king at Nissan and we offer the best value to anyone thinking of buying a new 191 car. Our price freeze makes it possible to register a new Nissan in January 2019 at 2018 prices,” said James McCarthy, CEO of Nissan Ireland.
“Most other manufacturers have had to increase their prices in response to the new 1% VRT rate and increasing costs associated with new EU emissions standards. We took a view when it came to importing new cars and preparing for the changes in the market and this has resulted in us being able to freeze our prices and offer real value to new car customers in 2019” said Mr McCarthy.
“There has never been a better time to buy a new Nissan. The Nissan Qashqai, for example, is currently the best-selling car in Ireland and the undisputed leader in its segment. Our price freeze makes it possible for even more motorists to make it their car of choice,” he added.
Nissan offers a choice of petrol and diesel engines across its entire range a factor which has played a huge part in the Qashqai’s continued success. In addition, a series of upgrades and premium enhancements to the range and Nissan’s Intelligent Mobility features are also attracting buyers and changing the way that people interact with their cars.
Technologies such as Intelligent Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, Intelligent Park Assist with Rear Cross Traffic Alert and Hill Start Assist and Nissan’s ProPILOT autonomous drive technology are especially attractive to drivers looking for new levels of driving flexibility.
