Planning permission has been granted for the development of a new service station at the site of the former EMO O’Regan Filling Station in Rathcormac.
The new premises will include the construction of a 2-storey service station with a retail area, hot food deli, food preparation area and toilet as well as an office, storage and staff area on the upper floor.
The forecourt area will comprise a canopy and 2 fuel pump dispensing locations. There will be 12 car parking spaces including 1 disabled parking spaces and 1 electric car charge point, as well as bicycle stands.
Cork County Council granted conditional permission for the development on Februrary 19.
The conditions are that the building be moved two metres west, that the door be moved to the northern side of the building, that additional windows and glazing be included and that the bicycle stands be relocated to the southern side.
It was also outlined that the shop and food preparations area will be secondary to the main purpose of the development as a service station and that all will be operated under single ownership.
There is no permission for a stand-alone separate hot food premises. The opening hours must be between 6am and 11pm only and no washing of vehicles is allowed on site.
