The final touches are being made to the single-storey extension at the Ballyhooly GAA Club grounds, with the club hosting an open day for members to be held on Saturday, December 3.
The new extension includes a state-of-the-art gym, along with upgrades to the dressings rooms and the addition of a meeting room.
John O’Keeffe, PRO with Ballyhooly GAA, said construction began in June following planning approval from Cork County Council. “It’s a fully-equipped gym for club members, we’ve made upgrades to the dressing rooms as well and added a meeting room which will be useful for the club and other teams when we host matches,” he said.
“We received Government grants, we got a grant from the county council, we received donations and we had some money ourselves. We’ll still be down money when we’re finished with it, but the gym will hopefully pay off the rest over a couple of years.”
Mr O’Keeffe said the open day on Saturday, December 3rd will provide existing and prospective club members with the opportunity to check out the new facilites, in particualar the new gym, with a brochure also being available on the day.
