A new Eircom Meteor phone store is opening on Wednesday next in Fermoy. The men behind the welcome new retail outlet on the town's main thoroughfare, Patrick Street, are Mark Hayes, owner of the O'Brien's sandwich shop and cafe in nearby Pearse Square and his brother Paul, who owns two other Eircom Meteor stores in Midleton and Douglas.

Mark himself has two other O'Brien's franchises, one in Douglas and the other in Merchants Quay in Cork city. He also has a chocolate factory in Douglas and another one which is being kept busy at present in Santa's Grotto at Pearse Square in Fermoy town. Mark has been very much involved in the grotto, along with local publican Tom Aherne, describing the venture as a way of giving something back to the people of Fermoy.

He opened the O'Brien's outlet in Fermoy four years ago. "We chose Fermoy for the third Cork Eircom Meteor phone store because I was already established and known here. I had a good foothold." It inspires confidence, he believes, when customers know who is behind any new business.

"It's a great town, it has the potential to grow," he says. He considers the people of Fermoy to be good for shopping locally and the spending power is here, 'provided you offer good value and good customer service'. It's an ethos Mark employs in his O'Brien's outlets and one that has served him well.

Mark says they actually turned down an opportunity to open in Youghal in favour of setting up the new store at 4 Patrick Street in Fermoy.  Meteor's phone reception in the town and environs is very strong, he points out.

Mark believes Eircom Meteor has a place in Fermoy. "The brand has developed to become a strong player in the market. We feel we can compete. It's another brand name coming to the town and that has to be good. I hope it will help draw more people to the town and as a result, help increase spending."

Managing two businesses in such close proximity could be handy, Mark points out. "I can sell people a sandwich and then pop across the road to sort them out with an affordable phone!"

A range of  special promotions will feature to celebrate the opening. One offer will be a huge range of bill pay packages that will suit everyone.  Great plans that offer pure freedom, include their Christmas promotion of 45,000 minutes, 10,000 texts and 5GB of data with a choice of over 20 free smart phones from €49 per month (as is usual, terms and conditions s apply). And the value doesn't stop there, with great deals on broadband and landline deals and free Eircom E Fibre for six months.

With €20 off every prepay phone in store and a huge range of stocking fillers and accessories the new Eircom Meteor store at 4 Patricks Street has something for everybody, just in time for Christmas!
