New appointments announced by Horse Racing Ireland

Several new appointments were recently announced by Horse Racing Ireland, which include some local concerns.

Horse Racing Ireland last week announced a number of new appointments to various committees and boards.

HRI CEO, Brian Kavanagh commented: “I am pleased to announce these various appointments and I am grateful to the nominees for giving their time so generously to the various sub-committees and boards. We look forward to working closely with all nominees in the future.”

Locally, business man and breeder Denis McDonnell, has been appointed to the board of Cork Racecourse. While Tom Gaffney, who has been a board member of Cork Racecourse since 2007, has taken over as chairman to succeed the late Joe Walsh.

Irish Thoroughbred Marketing

Dermot Cantillon has been appointed as chairman of Irish Thoroughbred Marketing to succeed John Oxx and Gerry Duffy of Darley has been appointed to replace Joe Osborne.

Meanwhile, Henry de Bromhead has been appointed to the Leopardstown committee, to succeed the late Dessie Hughes. And Joe Keeling has been appointed to replace John Power on the HRI Media Rights Committee.

Finally, Carol Nolan, HR Manager of Horse Racing Ireland, has been appointed as a nominee to the Management Committee of the Racing Academy (RACE).
