Increased traffic calming and safety measures are being called for on the R512 and connecting roads near Grange National School following a near-miss between a car and a pedestrian.
The incident, which occurred on Tuesday during the cold snap, saw a pedestrian forced to jump into a ditch to avoid being hit by a car travelling on the wrong side of the road.
It is understood that the woman was almost hit by the car after dropping a child at the local school and that the car had been overtaking pedestrians on their way to the school on the opposite side of the road.
While the approach to Grange NS is well signposted with forewarnings of the school ahead, further traffic calming measures are being sought by concerned members of the public following the near-miss.
