Viewers nationwide, on Saorview, will need to carry out a re-scan of their television or set-top box on or after October 21st. This rescan is required to enable viewers benefit from the development of further HD services on the Saorview platform to include RTÉ One HD which will launch later this year.

A public information campaign on TV, radio and online will be in place from October 21st, for two weeks, encouraging Saorview viewers to re-scan their equipment. Re-scan guides and instructions are available on the Saorview website and consumers can avail of additional customer support by contacting the Saorview Helpline (1890-222 012) or by emailing info@saorview.ie .

Jim Higgins of Saorview commented “Re-scanning Saorview equipment is simple and should take no more than a couple of minutes via the settings on your TV or Set-Top Box. For anyone that may find it difficult, there is support available, to ensure that viewers are assisted to successfully re-scan their Saorview equipment.”

Viewers will not initially notice any significant change to the electronic programme guide, or any additional channels following this re-scan. However failure to re-scan (at this point) will result in eventual loss of service.
