This Saturday, one brave woman will be getting into the ring for the St Patrick's Eve Punch Up in Mitchelstown, to fight for a cause she really believes in.

Margaret Ronan from Cahir will be raising money for Autism Ireland, as her son Kayden is autistic and she wants to help parents like her through Autism Ireland, so that they can get the supports and services they need.

"I've never done anything like this before - I'm doing it because of my son, I see the struggle he has to go through each day and if he can make sacrifices then I can too."

Margaret said that the training has been very hard, but knowing how many families the money raised will help, is what is keeping her motivated.

Speaking about Kayden, she said that he goes to school in Ballylooby and the staff are fantastic, and that he is a huge Man United fan and is very independant.

Margaret thanked her family and friends for all of their help and support and hopes that people will come along and support the night, she will also hold a fundraising night with a bucket collection in The Bodhran at the end of March.

One of the most high profile fights of the night will take place between local councillors Kevin O'Keeffe and Noel McCarthy who will be taking the politics out of the council chambers and into the ring for the occasion.

Noel will be raising money for Liam's Lifts in Fermoy, while Kevin's chosen charity is the COPE Foundation, Mitchelstown.

The money raised will go towards Mitchelstown Rugby Club and the chosen charities and organisations of the various fighters. For full details of the night's events on Saturday, see pages 44 and 45 more.
