Vladimir Belujsky, who will be fighting former European and World champion, Giuseppe Lauri, in October

On 3rd October, Mitchelstown is in for a shot at a World title, with resident boxer Vladimir Belujsky set to contend the Global Boxing Council’s World Super Middleweight title in the Columbia Club at Tempelhof, Berlin.

He will be facing former European and World champion, Giuseppe Lauri. Vladimir is confident – albeit ‘realistic’.

‘Big Bad Vlad’ met with The Avondhu in The Clongibbon House in Mitchelstown, to tell us how a man, born in Slovakia, brought up in Mitchelstown, finds the time to study, work and train for a shot at a World title.

Vladimir is 15 minutes late for our meeting, explained away by an intense schedule that involves managing 300 security personnel for work, and training regularly both in Ireland and Lanzarote for his upcoming bout.
