
Scouting’s founder, Lord Baden Powell, once said- ‘the most worthwhile thing is to try and put some happiness into the lives of others’. That is the mantra that drives volunteers in organisations and clubs throughout Ireland. Volunteers do it for the love of it and because once someone volunteered their time to help them grow.
A number of weeks ago the 29th/30th Cork, Mitchelstown Scout Group which re-opened in 1971, gathered to honour over 171 years of service to scouting and the young people of our community.
Joining the past and present members of the Mitchelstown Scout Group, were the Chief Scout of Ireland Eoin Callanan, North Cork County Commissioner John Fitzgerald, County secretary Claire Buckley and treasurer Pat Heally, along with friends from throughout North Cork Scout County and the Southern Province.
