Mellerick’s Pharmacy in Fermoy, the current title holders of ‘Pharmacy of the Year’ have once again been shortlisted as one of the top 30 retailers in all of Ireland by Retail Excellence Ireland. 

Mellerick’s Pharmacy and Quinlan’s Gift Shop in Macroom are the only stores in County Cork to make the prestigious list, indicating the competitive nature of the competition.

Orla Mellerick, proprietor of Mellericks Pharmacy, is incredbly proud of her staff who have maintained this exceptionally high standard for the third year in a row.

“It’s a great reflection on our team who continually strive to give a top class and unique shopping experience to all of our customers,” she told The Avondhu.

Mellerick’s reputation for top quality customer service is built on a long history of service to the people of Fermoy. Orla and the team at Mellerick’s are very proud of this heritage and have historic photographs of Fermoy, and letters written by soldiers based in the town between 1916 and 1918, on display in the store on Patrick Street, a premises which in itself, is also steeped in history.

The team are now gearing up for a busy christmas period and have some interesting Christmas gifts arriving from all parts of the world.

The sectoral category winners, Top 5 Stores and the National Store of the Year will be announced at a black-tie Awards banquet on Saturday, November 10th in the Malton Hotel in Killarney.

“We are delighted to be nominated for the third time for best shop in Ireland. We have won best pharmacy in Ireland for the last two years so we are hopeful that we will make it a hat trick in November,” Ms Mellerick said.
