Born in 1916 in what was a landmark year for Ireland, avid reader of The Avondhu May Hennessy recently celebrated her 100th birthday with family and friends.
May was born in Ballinamodough, Araglin on April 30, 1916, she was the eldest of four and is the last surviving member of her family.
She married Tom Hennessy and they set up home in Ballyporeen and went on to have three children, Maureen, Jean and Seamus.
Tom was a tailor and he passed away in 1968, so she has been a widow for many years. May would have helped her husband with bits and pieces …
