“I very much welcome the return of buyers to the market ring, even though there will be a limited number,” said Sean O’Sullivan, CEO of Cork Marts.
The positive news for farmers across the region came last week as Minister for Agriculture, Charlie McConalogue, confirmed that farmer buyers can get back to mart rings from May 17.
According to Mr O’Sullivan, however, public health guidelines remain in place requiring face masks and social distancing, with restrictions on numbers attending.
“We welcome the prospect of having people in the mart again, there’s nothing like having people at the rings, this is a very positive development,” Mr O’Sullivan told The Avondhu.
