Conna native, Jimmy Mangan, who point-to-point supporters will see at venues around the county every Sunday, announced his return to big time racing, with a hugely impressive win at the Easter racing festival in Fairyhouse over the weekend, where the centrepiece was the Irish Grand National.

Mangan’s winner of the Grade One WillowWarm Gold Cup on Sunday was ‘Spillane’s Tower’, who Jimmy has always admired.
“When I saw him coming out of the box, I said to myself, we have a serious horse here. He looks the part and chasing is definitely his game,” Jimmy said.

There was success also for Fermoy businessman, insurance broker Charlie McCarthy, when 4-year old Kopek Des Bordes romped home for a facile victory in the concluding race on Easter Sunday, with hopes high for this rising star (see separate story inside).
