A man suffered a vicious beating in a terrifying robbery at a road bowling event near Fermoy last weekend.
The victim was beaten with a baseball bat in the attack and the money he had on him at the event, which saw 10 scores being thrown, was stolen. An ambulance was called following the incident at Glenabo.
Sources have said that the man, who is from the North Cork area, was in the area attending what is being described as ‘an unsanctioned event’.
“There was about 60 people at the event in Glenabo, they were from various parts of the country. A lot of money changed hands during the day, it was inititally thought that the man had lost €20,000 but that now seems to be closer to €11,000,” a source said.
