Making Life Easier – Eircode & Google Maps

L-R: Liam Duggan, MD, Eircode; Minister for Communications, Climate Action and Environment, Denis Naughten, TD and Paddy Flynn, Director, Trust and Safety, Google, mark the integration of Eircodes with Google Maps, allowing people to accurately locate addresses throughout Ireland.

Did you know that you can now use Eircodes in Google Maps to accurately locate addresses throughout Ireland.

The Eircode system, a 7 character alpha-numeric code consisting of a three character routing key plus a four character unique Identifier, makes life a little more straight forward for Irish citizens.

Using the Eircode system is a simple way of standardising individual addresses so that locations can be pinpointed more easily, for example by the National Ambulance Service. Eircode simplifies route planning for both the public and businesses and enables accurate and efficient provision of goods and services.

Minister for Communications, Climate Action and Environment, Denis Naughten TD, said, “The use of Eircode by Google Maps reinforces the role and importance of Eircode in our digital society. Members of the public can use Eircodes within Google Maps on several devices, including mobile phones, in-car satnav and personal computers to accurately locate addresses and get directions. While benefiting all road users, it will also simplify buying online for businesses and shoppers by enabling a more efficient delivery of products and service.”
