Those involved in the community association in Watergrasshill say they are ‘absolutely delighted’ with how wildlife and biodiversity is being treated locally when it comes to planning applications.

This comes amidst concerns highlighted in a recent report from BirdWatch Ireland over a 46% increase in the number of red-listed bird species.

A recent development in Watergrasshill however, saw an unusual, but not unwelcome, planning condition attached to its planning permission for two warehouses within an industrial estate.

“Little did we know that a largely developed site like this would be such a biodiversity haven,” ecologist Lesley Lewis said.
