2017 marks the 50th anniversary of the Glenville senior citizens’ party – an occasion that has become synonymous with celebration and community spirit.

The good news is that these ingredients are still in evidence as was witnessed at the Holy Family Centre, Glenville on Friday evening last.

Proceedings got under way with Mass in St Joseph’s Church, Glenville with Fr Donal Cotter as chief celebrant. There was an interruption to the power supply during prayers, however, true to form, the cleric and his parishioners pressed on regardless.

Santa duly arrived and did his customary ‘meet and greet’. The big man in the red suit was followed by Garda Kieran Cronin who was also duly impressed by what he saw.
