Lyrenacarriga Wind Farm in the west Waterford area has recently been granted planning permission, subject to conditions, by An Bord Pleanála, much to the disappointment of locals.
Curns Energy Limited, the applicant, proposed the development of 17 wind turbines, with a maximum overall blade tip height of 150 metres some 5km southeast of Tallow.
A meteorological mast, with a maximum height of up to 112 metres, a staff welfare and storage facility and a permanent 110kv substation with two control buildings, 10 battery containers, a battery switchgear building and all associated electrical plant and equipment, also formed part of the application.
