Following on from last Monday night’s launch, it’s all systems go for Kilworth Festival 2013. Organisers will be buoyed by the success of last year’s event which got fantastic reviews.

The decision to host a ‘Fair In The Square’ was a master stroke and the plan is to once again make the best possible use of the village’s attractive square to give proceedings a focal point. The festival runs from Sunday 4th August to Sunday 11th August – with the ‘Fair In The Square’ taking place on Sunday 11th August.

A lot of the features that worked so well in 2012 have been retained and Kilworth’s 4 pubs (The Village Inn, Cotter’s, Jimmy’s and The Butchers) have all come on board with a great line-up of entertainment. The popular 5K run takes place on 11th August and ‘Fair In The Square’ followers can also look forward to a street tea party, barbecue, biker display and live music – just some of the attractions on the day.
In a new departure the festival has taken inspiration from Las Vegas’ high rollers by hosting a fun casino night in the national school hall on Friday, 9th August. Award winning magician, Ger Kearney is the special guest.
A festival is nothing without public participation and the expectation is the people of Kilworth and surrounding areas will turn out in force for what is a very inclusive, village orientated, family centred event with a little something for everyone.
A comprehensive feature detailing the festival’s full programme of events will be carried in next week’s edition of The Avondhu.
