Long running event still has plenty of appeal

The annual flower and craft show in Conna is in its 58th year. At a time of very significant cultural and social change, this is quite an achievement.

This event has managed to retain a lot of the traditional attractions, i.e. fruit and vegetable displays, examples of home baking and crafts. More modern pursuits such as flower arranging have been introduced, along with poster and photographic competitions which are aimed at younger people.

The end result is a diverse package of attractions that have cross generational appeal.

Both the old hall and new community centre (sports complex) are pressed into service for the day with the hall accommodating most of the retail and commercial stands.
