Locals and visitors fall for revamped beauty spot

2020 was a breakthrough year for what is fast becoming a well-known beauty spot, Ballard waterfall, known locally as ‘The Goat’s Parlour’.

Well off the beaten path, a decision by Avondhu Blackwater Partnership in association with Cork County Council, to include it on a regional list of walking trails, has proved a great success – so much so, that it was voted one of the ‘most visited’ sites in North Cork last year. 

This trend is continuing and it proved a popular choice on New Year’s Day, with a variety of ages, taking on the sometimes challenging terrain that leads to a spectacular waterfall in a deep ravine on the Kilworth/Araglin/Mitchelstown border, a short distance from well known landmark, the Mountain Barracks.
