Local resistance to Irish Water continues

This week, a concerned local resident contacted The Avondhu saying they refuse to pay a water charge, as they are already stymied by other taxes and charges each week.

With Irish Water announcing recently that a majority of eligible households have paid their second water bill, objections to the controversial tax remain and many local Avondhu residents continue to hold out paying their water charges.

Early figures from the first billing cycle put the compliance rate at 43%, but this has now risen to 51%, or 772,000 homes out of a total of 1.52 million.

This week, a concerned local resident contacted The Avondhu saying they refuse to pay a water charge, as they are already stymied by other taxes and charges each week.
