Local groups nominated for Community & Voluntary Awards

Ballysaggart Community Care and Lismore Tidy Towns have been nominated for awards at the 10th annual Waterford City & County Community & Voluntary Awards.

Two local community groups have been nominated for awards at the 10th annual Waterford City & County Community & Voluntary Awards, which recognises and rewards the contribution made by voluntary groups across the county.

Ballysaggart Community Care are among three nominations in the Social Inclusion category, sponsored by Bus Eireann, while Lismore Tidy Towns have been shortlisted for the Arts, Culture & Heritage awards, sponsored by GlaxoSmithKline.

In total there are seven categories, also including Children & Youth, Community Services, Environment, Health & Active Community, and Social Enterprise, with a total of 21 groups nominated.

The awards ceremony will take place on Thursday, November 27, in The Park Hotel, Dungarvan with the announcement of the winners on the night. The Overall Award is sponsored by WLR-FM.

The presentation of the Community & Voluntary Awards sponsorship cheques took place on Thursday, November 6, in Civic Offices, Dungarvan. The cheques were presented by the corporate sponsors of this year’s awards to Cllr. James Tobin Mayor, Waterford City & County Council and the chairperson of the County Waterford Community Forum, Michael J Walsh.
