Local childcare providers in the Mitchelstown and surrounding areas will be taking protest action later in September, where either all or part of their services will be closed.

Childcare providers from across the locality intend to hold a day of action in Mitchelstown on Thursday, 28th September from 9am, opposite the John Mandeville statue.

This will follow a nationwide protest outside of the Dáil on 26th September, where the public are being urged to show their support by either joining the protest or lobbying their local TDs.

While the reasons for protest are multiple, multi-faceted, and industry-specific, many of the issues can be boiled down to impractical and ludicrous administrative demands, excessive government oversight, and an unsustainable and ill-thought out funding structure that is leaving childcare operators at a financial disadvantage.
