Residents of the Lios Oir council estate in Fermoy are disappointed at the lack of progress and frustrated over the lack of communication from the town council in relation to planned refurbishment works to their homes.

The town council has plans to carry out insulation and other works to the houses following a report on dampness. At the recent monthly meeting of the town council, Councillor Noel McCarthy asked for an up-to-date report on the situation.

When no report was available, he said it was disappointing for residents. “We need something to reassure residents that this is going to be done,” he stressed.

PROGRESS PROMISED

Cllr. Colette Dolan-Moore agreed. “Promises have been made. Residents are very frustrated at the lack of communication,” she said.

Cllr. Tadhg O’Donovan said residents feel the work has been delayed because a number of councillors were against the works being done, believing that they weren’t necessary. “I too am disappointed that there’s no update here,” he said.

Town Clerk Pauline Moriarty explained that tenders were opened on June 11th. The architect’s department needs to assess the tenders, who’s on leave at present. “I’m assured it will be done shortly,” she told members.
