The executive of Cork County Council were clear on Monday morning that it was ‘not legally possible’ to put all green energy developments in the county on hold, as was requested by local councillor Peter O’Donoghue.
Cllr O’Donoghue had asked that all green energy developments in the county be paused while planning guidelines were updated, with members of the public who were expectant of the news, from Knockraha, Leamlara and Lisgoold, present in the public gallery.
At the outset of the meeting, the chief executive of Cork County Council, Moira Murrell, was very clear that, even if the assembled councillors voted in favour of pausing all developments, it was not something that the council could actually do, legally.
